Brookfields Primary School Newsletter
Friday 20th April 2018
Brookfields Primary School, Hingeston Street, B18 6PU 0121 675 1897
Head Teacher: Mrs Julie Berrow Deputy Head Teacher: Mrs Jane Cross
It’s lovely to be back at school in the sunshine. The grass on the field has been cut and as soon as it’s dry we’ll use it for sport and at play and lunchtimes.
On Monday Mrs Cross’s assemblies were about the Wateraid competition.
The design brief was to use recycled materials to create a water carrier which would be practical to collect and carry water over a distance. The group prize went to Tia, Dean and Mubarak in 5SM and certificates were given to Farah 4C, Kurtis 2MB and Mardiyah RK. Thank you to everyone who took part.
In assembly this morning there were 63 Bronze certificates for pupils with 100% attendance in the Spring Term and 56 Silver certificates for those who had 100% so far this year. There was a draw for book tokens and the winners were:
Bronze (£10): Jaspreet 6L, Danya 3C, Zaynab RH
This is really brilliant so keep up the good work. If you haven’t had a certificate yet, then keep trying!
Y6 SATs: 14-17th May 2018
All pupils in Y6 had a letter about this yesterday. If you didn’t see it, please ask. It is essential that Y6 pupils are in school for the tests as they are statutory and we are following a national timetable. If you are concerned about anything relating to the tests, please see Miss O’Rourke.
Y5 visited the National Space Centre at Leicester yesterday. They had a great day. Here are some of their comments:
“I enjoyed the planetarium because the show was in 3D. It felt like we were in Space and like we were moving. It was mind-blowing!”
“I liked exploring the National Space Centre. There were lots of engaging and interesting activities! My favourite part was learning about the stars and the big bang theory.”
“I liked when we asked questions about the space shuttle missions. It was fun and we played a rocket launch game.”
The next coffee morning will be on 24th April and will be hosted by “Suited for Success”, who support unemployed women with finding work. There will a second session on 1st May. Please ask Mrs Downs if you are interested or just come along.
